What is sitemap?

Sitemap is just like a map of your website. It can either be a HTML or XML file. This sitemap file contains all your page URL’s. HTML file helps your viewers/visitors to navigate through your blogs and XML sitemap helps search engines to navigate through your blogs. When you add your sitemap to any webmasters, it helps the crawlers to find URL’s and to add these URL’s to their database.

XML sitemap.

The XML Sitemap is very important for SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) because they make it easier for Google and other search engines to find your site's pages. If you have not submitted your sitemap to webmasters then your site pages will not be shown in search engines. This is important because Google and other search engines ranks web Pages not just websites. There is no harm for having a XML Sitemap for your website. Having Sitemap of your website, improves your SEO ranking.

HTML sitemap.

A HTML sitemap helps your viewers/readers to navigate the website easily. It is a bulleted outline text version of the site navigation. The anchor text displayed in the outline is linked to the page it references. Site visitors can go to the Sitemap to locate a topic they are unable to find by searching the site or navigating through the site menus.

How to create and add XML Sitemap in Blogger?

1 For this you need visit this site- Sitemap Generator

2 Now paste or insert your blog URL in the given box.

3 Now, click on Generate.

4 Copy your sitemap. (Leave the first line i.e. # Blogger Sitemap generated on 2018.12.08)

Now to paste the sitemap in Blogger, follow below steps.

5 Open your Blogger Account.

6 Go to Setting and Click on Search Preferences.

7 Now under Crawlers and Indexing you will see Custom robots.txt (Click on edit then tick on Yes).

8 Now, paste your Sitemap in the box and click on Save changes.

NOTE- 
If your website has more than 500 posts then add this below code and replace the URL from rhtblogs1.blogspot to your blog URL…

Sitemap: http://www.rhtblogs1.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=501&max-results=500

Add the above code just below your first sitemap code.

And

If your website has more then 1000 posts then add below code after your 2^nd sitemap code don’t forget to change the highlighted part with your URL…

Sitemap: http://www.rhtblogs1.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1001&max-results=500

The above all codes shows maximum results of 500 posts. Whenever your posts exceed the limit (i.e. 500), you have to add an additional sitemap code just below your previous code.

The change that you have to make in every new code is shown below…

See the highlighted part in above three codes. Whenever your posts exceed the limit make the changes as I made above, in your sitemap.

How to submit sitemap to Webmasters…

A- Google Webmaster.

Follow the below steps in new version of Google Search Console.

1 Open Google Search Console and Log in with your account.

2 In the left side menu, click on the Sitemap.

3 Add your sitemap in the given box. (Leave your blog URL and Add the remaining part).

4 Now, Click on Submit.

B- Bing Webmaster.

1 Open Bing Webmaster,  Log in to your account, Choose your site.

2 On left menu click on Sitemap (Under Configure my site).

3 Now paste your sitemap in the given box. (Here, you have to paste full URL of your sitemap).

4 Then click on Submit.

C- Yandex Webmaster

1 Open Yandex Webmaster and Log in to your account.

2 In the left menu Click on Indexing.

3 Then, click on Sitemap Files.

4 Now, add or paste your Sitemap full URL.

5 Then, Click on Add.

How to Create HTML, XML, TXT Sitemap?

1 Open the XML-Sitemaps.com

2 Paste your website URL in the given box and Clock on start.

3 Click on View Sitemap Details.

4 Now, scroll little down.

5 And, click on Download all sitemaps in a Zip file.
