How To Use Blogger's Post Editing Tools.

Blogger post editing tools.

In this post I will show you how to use the formatting/editing tools of blogger.

How to use Bloggers article editing tools

1-Post Title.

This is very very important, if you have written a long informative article and if you have not given a Post title then your post will become useless. A title tells your viewers about the post. Give such title which can attract more viewers. A good title also creates an interest of reading your post in many people mind. You can also make use of title generating websites to get a good title for free. A good title can bring your post in search engines list.

2-Compose/HTML tab.

There are two main ways that you can create your post i.e. compose and HTML.
Most of the bloggers use Compose tab because here you have to just type your content. It doesn’t include any coding, like how we do in HTML. It is good for new bloggers and for other pro bloggers also because a small mistake in HTML coding can make your content improper in live view.
I’m using HTML only if I have to type my data in tables it is due to sometime Blogger doesn’t show the lines of the table. In such case you can type data in MS Word and save in HTML format and copy and paste the codes in blogger HTML tab.

3-Undo and Redo.

You should be familiar with this two. The Undo and Redo features allow you to easily correct your mistakes. Undo reverses the last action you performed, and Redo undoes the last Undo action.
Shortcut keys for Undo & Redo.
Undo - (Ctrl + Z)
Redo- (Ctrl + Y)

4-Font Style.

This dropdown menu let you change the font style. There are few styles available in blogger. I would recommend you not to use too many font styles in one blogger post. Two are enough because when you use two different styles i.e. for Heading and Content, it looks good and become easy to read the post.

5-Size dropdown menu.

When you click on this dropdown, you can change the size of your text. Unfortunately, not all blog themes and browsers will show this text: it might look fine when you’re composing the post, but it won’t necessarily come through on the site.
Sometime it makes the blog post untidy as when you select one paragraph and give one of this size -the result that we see is completely different from the size shown in dropdown menu. Sometimes it shows too big and sometime it makes the spacing between lines tight.

6-Paragraph/Line Spacing.

This we mainly use for heading and sub-heading. This increases the space between lines of heading little bigger than the rest of the content. Using heading size and bold text you can make your blog more attractive. You can also use this for full paragraph if you want more space between the lines.

7-Bold, Italic, Underline, Strike-through.

Bold- text works well when it is used to highlight key sentences or phrases. (Ctrl +B)

Italic- slightly bend the text and it is used to highlight the text. (Ctrl + I)

Underline- The ‘U’ button will show a line under the text. (Ctrl + U)

Strikethrough- This will pass a line through the text.

8-Font color/ Text Highlighter.

You can use the Font color button to give different colours to the text. You can choose two colours for subheadings and content, or even for a particular section.
Use this text highlighter for the lines which are important or which are more specific to the topic. Text highlighter shows the color behind the text.

9-Link.

Link button allow you to link pages or resources, which tells the more details about a particular thing.
To link the page, follow this-
First find the page that you want to link and once you get that page copy the web link of the page. Paste that link in “Web Address” Text box and give name in top box, which will appear on you live page. By clicking ‘text this link’, make sure that your link is working or not.

10)-i) Insert Image.

This button allows you to an insert an image into your post. Just click on the button, and either upload an image from your own computer, or link to one on the web.
If you want to add images from your pc then click on “Upload”, select the pictures that you want and then click on ‘Open’. The image will start uploading. After finishing uploading select the image and click on ‘Add Selected’. Your image will be added to your content.

ii) Insert Video.

We can also upload videos to our content like how we insert images in our content.
If your video is in your pc then select that video, the uploading will finish shortly.
You can also upload video from YouTube, for that click on ‘YouTube Videos’ and search the video and choose from the available videos.
If you have your own YouTube channel then click on ‘My YouTube Videos’ and select the video and upload it.

iii) Insert special characters.

In this you can add many things like emojis, symbols, numbers etc. If your keyboard doesn’t have some characters then don’t worry. Here, lots of such characters are available. You won’t find emojis on your PC keyboard but you will get that here in Blogger.

11-Jump/Page break.

As we all know that the page of the blogger is never ending. Most of the blogger don’t know how to use the page break.
If you don’t want to show your full content, then use page break. Only the beginning part of the page will appear and if your reader wants to read more then he has to click on ‘Read More’ link. This will also give you an extra view.

12-Alignment.

You all have probably seen these buttons in Microsoft Word or another word-processing program and we mostly use one alignment for our entire post. We also use this for heading to get it in center of the page.

13-Bullets.

This are very important when we are explaining a particular thing in point form or when we show the steps of doing something. Most of the us don’t like to read big-big para’s. So, to make the reading experience better we should use these bullets.

14-i) Quote.

The blockquote component is utilized to demonstrate the citation of a vast segment of content from another source. Utilizing the default HTML styling of most web programs, it will indent the privilege and left edges both on the show and in printed shape, however this might be superseded by CSS.

ii) Remove Formatting.

If you want to remove the editing that you did, then click on ‘Remove Formatting’. This will remove all editing and show your blog post in its original form. This is much better than clicking on undo button again and again.

15-Check Spelling.

It’s always worth running a spell-check after writing your post.  You don’t need to select your text this time – just click on the “ABC” button and it will automatically spell-check the whole post. Once the spell-check is complete, any incorrect words will be highlighted in yellow. Correct these words and then publish your article.

16-Translate Words.

This is an interesting feature of blogger. This will translate the word which you will type. First select the language by clicking on down arrow button and then select ‘Transliterate’ (the icon will be mainly in the form of your country language) and then start typing.

17-Left-to-right and Right-to-left.

This allows us to choose the writing side. If we choose the right-to-left writing side, then our typing text will start from right side of our page. Left-to-right is side which we use and its good. Right-to-left side is confusing and complicated also.

I hope this post will help you in future. If you like reading this, then please follow my blog. Thank You.
