How to Use Google Search Console (a.k.a. Google Webmaster).
Google search console
is one of the most important and commonly used tools by bloggers. This tool makes
the content available in the search engine, when a user search on that
particular topic. There are many search engines and each search engine have its
webmaster tool. Google Search Console is one of them and it is a free tool.
Google search console
helps a lot in getting traffic on your blog. To get good traffic you should
write good quality and unique articles. Also, you should use SEO for your blog
posts.
In 2018 Google has
changed its looks and some features of Search console and the new design looks
better and also easy to use. You can even shift to previous version.
In this post I have
used screenshots of new version.
How to get started?
Search Google search console or webmaster in
google.
Click on the first
link.
Click on search console.
Insert your blog URL
and click on Add Property.
Now you have to verify
that you are the real owner of the site. For that click on HTML Tag. (This is the simplest way of verifying the site).
Once you click on it,
you will get a HTML code which you have to copy and paste it under head in blogger template. (For
that open your blogger account, click on Theme
then Edit HTML)
Once you paste your code
click on save theme and then open webmaster and click on Verify.
Your verification
process is now completed.
Once your verification
gets complete, submit your blog sitemap to Google search console.
How to Submit Sitemap…
Before we submit sitemap,
let’s see what is a sitemap?
What is Sitemap?
Sitemap is just like a
map of your website. It can either be a HTML or XML file. This file contains
all your page URL’s. HTML file helps your viewers/visitors to navigate through your
blogs and XML sitemap helps search engines to navigate through your blogs. When
you add your sitemap to any webmasters, it helps the crawlers to find URL’s and
to add these URL’s to their database.
Read How to Customize the Blogger Setting.
Submit Sitemap…
On your left side
(menu) Click on Sitemap under Index heading.
Copy your sitemap from
your Blogger Settings. (Settings and Search Preferences then click on Custom Robots.txt)
Refresh the page.
Now your sitemap
submission is completed and very soon the crawlers will start finding your page
URL’s.
Index your URL’s
Index URL’s means, submit
URL’s to webmaster. When you go for indexing you come to know whether your URL
is there on google or not. If your URL is not found then, you can request for indexing.
Follow these steps in
Checking and Indexing URL’s.
Open Google Webmaster.
The webmaster will start
searching your URL on Google search.
Now you can request
for indexing by clicking Request Indexing.
It will take up to 2
minutes for indexing your URL.
Then refresh the page
and paste again the same link in search bar and then enter.
You should get this message.
